It happens again. No Christmas without a murder in the Merkantia department-store. This time it’s a very special serving.
But how did the man get in there in the middle of the night? Who is he? Does the new, borrowed, blue… have anything to do with it? And who wanted his head on a platter?
Once again house detective Adeline la Cour and Detective Chief Inspector Strøm is on the case, the manager pleading for them to solve it before opening time. Preferably without anyone hearing about it.
A little light Christmas whodunnit.

Freya has a style all her own—a good style: light, flowing, with a steady pace. That’s why she can write a super short crime novel that’s truly worth reading. For a couple of hours, you’re transported to old Copenhagen, where police officers genuinely wanted the best for their citizens, a commercial education was a vocational training in a way completely different from today, and where the relationships between family and friends take on a special significance in a life lived. You can almost smell the small apartments and the director’s office, and taste the buttery pastries and coffee so vividly that you find yourself reaching for a cup—just as soon as you’ve finished this page, and the next, and just one more… oh, that’ll have to wait for another day. Well done; it’s a wonderful story, perfectly suited for a rainy October afternoon.
